Happy Birthday Mummy

On Sunday we had a dinner to celebrate mummy’s birthday. I was dead tired after the relay and didn’t make it to the Hari Sukan Morning Crew the next morning but went home for lunch & dinner instead.

Funnily enough..my parents craved McDonalds (very very rare occasion for our family).

*My father was convinced that my BigMac was bigger than his*

*So he tried persuading me for a bite*

*Caught in the act by Denise*

*Oh yummy BigMac*

*I told daddy that the only reason why my BigMac looked bigger was that because I’m small*

*And of course his is smaller..sudah makan what*

*Lookit his disappointed face*

*So dad tried to bargain*

*And when that didn’t work, he threatened*

*He finally resorted to pulling me hair. I caved & gave him a bite*

*Denise happy with her meal*

After lunch we spent a boring few hours at Giant while mum went to get ‘garlic’. Garlic it seems. Sheesh.

* A bored Denise climbed onto one of the free rides..but was sad when it didn’t work*

*Bored picture of her*

*Bored picture of me*

More super bored pictures of us later, my parents finally emerged from Giant. We went home and blah blah blah, before we knew it, it was dinnertime.

We were supposed to go to Las Caristas but ended up at Vietnam Kitchen in the end.

*My dad ALWAYS finds a way to insinuate his way into my pictures*

*Daddykins*

*A still bored Denise*

*My filter coffee, mum’s chestnut drink*

*Fooooood*

*We were given a small bowl of hot water & a brush, and this transparent wrap*

*First, moisten wrap with said water*

*Next, add ingredients & sauce, and wrap like popiah. Nomnomnom*

*Our feast + Denise’s vegetarian dishes*

*My filter coffee again, love this stuff*

*Dad’s refreshing apple/honey/mint soda drink*

No more pictures after this because I was too busy eating. We had pork belly, mango duck, sesame chicken, some fish dish, and more. Yum.

Went back happy and napped while the family watched a movie. I was still trying to recover from the night before. Signs of old age, I tell you.

It was such a shame Darren couldn’t join us, but you know what, there be many years more to come :)

Relay for Life 2009 in pictures

I didn’t have to go alone in the end! Adam was kind enough to accompany me. We made it there around 12 plus am. Upon arrival, Adam commented that he felt out of place..so..

*I gave him my clothes! And wore last year’s tee*

*Tukar kasut. Left my running shoes behind because I cannot run*

*First order of business, camwhore!*

*Inspirational messages*

*Notice Team Cook camped out?*

*Astro’s campsite*

*Notes & prayers that made me tear, plus someone draws tortoises like I do!*

*My legs are not as muscular as last year, sobs*

*Starting to tire*

*And suddenly I caught Adam looking very unglam, hmm*

*MILO TRUCK!*

*YUM!*

*Still half-dead*

*adamliew, adamliew. Shakes head*

*Hope.*

*Relay for Life*

*We rested a long time, watching & cheering on the college relay*

*Accessories*

*Kasut koyak*

*Cockblock*

After many camwhore pictures of himself (not posted because they weren’t clear) Adam decided to take many, many shots of me. AND my boobs. WHY Adam WHY?

Okay enough kthxbai. For the record, Adam doesn’t even like boobs. -_-”

*Mmmm cupcakes!*

*Painting our Luminara messages*

*Our lit messages to patients & survivors*

Exhausted and hungry, we dragged our asses to the canteen..and proceeded to eat everything in sight. Burp. I was too knackered to drive so Adam drove us both home in my car.We left at almost 5 plus am.

*This was me just before my shower*

I passed out very soon after.

Samsung Shoot 25.5.09

Darren had a shoot for Samsung last week. Here are some pictures!

*All dressed up - and ready to camwhore*

*Sam needed makeup*

*And hair*

Whereas the makeup artist pronounced Darren as having flawless hair and skin, so there was none for him!

*I can NEVER get Darren to take a proper picture! Grr!*

*Pfft*

*They had to bring their own props*

*This was how they dressed the ‘emo rocker’. Hmm, shiny & tight silver jeans!*

*Some powder to remove the shine*

*Janggut jantan*

*He took some pictures of me while I scrambled for my phone*

*Kasut*

*Getting prepped*

*That’s them across the street!*

*Then it begins!*

They were made to laugh/hop/skip/jump while crossing the street, how cute! Police controlled the traffic while cars honked the entire time.

*Getting ready for another take*

*Darren, Sam & hot Taiwanese talent*

*The crew having to hose the street. A lot of cars honked at him, too*

I hadn’t been to a shoot in ages but was glad that the old crew recognised me, albeit not having seen me on the ’scene’ for about 6 years. Omg has it been that long? Yes..I believe it has..wow.

After much ado, my favourite line came about: It’s a wrap!

*Cast, crew & client*

I would say that this is one of the most efficient shoots I’ve ever seen. Wrap up so fast, whoa.

Mother’s Day 9.5.09

I brought my family + Darren to Ole Ole Bali in Sunway Pyramid for dinner.

*My sister will kill me for putting up this picture*

*Somehow it was pretty impossible to get a decent picture of me*

*Fooooood*

*The Chan family*

Overall the food was okay but I was more than a little disappointed because I so lack the creativity. I mean I think the last four celebrations we had - father’s birthday, my birthday, etc, I think I brought my family to all the Balinese places I could think of. Just because I like the ambiance. But somehow I never realised they were all Balinese. Peh. Food all taste the same. I even contemplated (and called to book, but they were closed for a private function) Bora Asmara! Which is ANOTHER Balinese cuisine restaurant. What is wrong with me?!

To my utmost disappointment Ole Ole Bali is under the same management as the Waterlily Cafe in Puchong. Really been to all their outlets already lor. Terrible daughter me.

The bill was affordable though.

After dinner daddy was talking rootbeer and waffles so off we headed to A&W. Oh but I forget, in between that Denise, Darren and I managed to do some shopping..mysteriously that bill ended up from my pocket too..how did that happen? :) Kids.

Photos in the Canon, methinks. Denise?

At A&W:

*Uhm. We’re kids what. Stare what?*

*Yum*

Obviously we had more than one rootbeer la. My father not kiamsiap okay.

*We are a family of posers okay*

Did I ever mention I was daddy’s girl?

*I sat on my dad because he was bullying me*

*But yeah, mum reckons we’d win a lookalike contest*

Okay. So that’s how Darren & I spent Mother’s Day with my family. It’s a bit late, but Happy Mothers’ Day to all the mummy(s) out there!

Well sometimes I go out by myself
and I look across the water
And I think of all the things
What you’re doing
And in my head I paint a picture

Relay for Life 2009

Remember this? I participated in Relay for Life last year and posted some pictures here.

This year, I am hitting the track again. Won’t be running much this time because of my knee (not fit for running anymore, sigh) but I will definitely be cheering people on.

Also not coming in the rollerblades I thought I was gonna be participating in (as predicted last year LOL).

ncs

I for one am fortunate enough to have not lost anyone dear to cancer. No one in my family has any history of cancer and I cannot say I know what it is like to have lost someone to it. I however can do my part in raising awareness for cancer research.

I’m doing my part. Are you?

Relay for Life will take place in the MSN Bukit Jalil stadium from Saturday 6pm to Sunday 10 am, a total of 16 hours. I lasted about 4 hours last year, let’s see how far my endurance takes me this time around!

And yes, again, I will be doing this all alone. If you find yourself in the area or plan to participate yourself, do come say hi :)
